Gates

Gates is a video collage created from the first page («Gate page») of books published between the 16th and 20th centuries, that are part of the collection of Archive of the Center for Jewish Arts at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Gates transposes Kafka’s “Before the Law,” (where a guard prevents the main character from crossing the gates of the law that were created for him) to the realm of knowledge, pointing to the fact that that no matter how far we move forward, we are always on the first page, the light at the end of the tunnel always on the horizon.
